How did your band get started? Tell us a little about the history behind your band.
It all started out sometime in '89 when Johhny decided
to start a new band after Nihilist. He got together
with Fredrik and Robert. A little later i met Johnny
at a party and we had the same ideas and thoughts so I
joined. We then put out a couple of demos and 7 inches
and traded them all over the world. And a while later
Robert left the band and was replaced by Tomas. Then
Century Media contacted us and we signed to them. The
rest i guess is history.
What band or bands would you like to tour with and why?
Hell there's so many good bands that would be cool to
tour with! we've had a great time with most bands we've
been out with and it would be cool to out with all
them again. But of course always good to meet new
bands too.
What is the maddest experience you've had while on tour?
Well there's been alot I guess haha! there's no way to
single out the maddest, but having the bus raided by
special police in France or getting arrested in
Germany were pretty crazy times.
Are there any plans to take Unleashed on the road?
Of course! we head to Mexico in a couple weeks from
now which is always awesome! then hopefully we'll be
out in Europe in december with Morbid Angel and
others.
And for next year we are planning to hit the States as
well as Japan and Australia.
What CD's are you currently listening to regularly right now?
Some cd's I've been jamming alot right now is Belphegor - Goatreich, Grand Magus - Wolfs Return and In Battle - Welcome to the Battlefield.
What about the sellings of your latest album Sworn Allegiance?
Well I don't know actually. But it seems to be doing
pretty good!
What forms of art, ideas, or actions inspired the inception of your artwork?
Usually the artwork has either something to do with
certain lyrics or just by a feeling. Often inspired by
our old nordic mythology.
Is all the music and lyrics written by one man or the work is done collectively?
Johhny and Fredrik are responsible for most of the
songs but we all put in ideas and structures.
Do you consider Unleashed a part of death metal scene nowadays? You've been on stage for 15 years, what major changes have you noticed between what was than and what is now?
Of course we are. We've been playing death metal for
more than 15 years now and we will continue to do so
for a long time. There was some change in the mid 90s
but now I think the scene is as strong as ever.
There's alot of people from back then who are still
true to it as well as alot of younger people getting
into it.
You work personally on Unleashed Website and you also write on the forum. It makes you be nearer the fans than other bands use to do. This kind of treatment rewards Unleashed anyway?
Well we have always wanted to be close to the people
who support us. It's very important, because they are
the reason we can exist.
It seems in nordic countries traditional culture is very important. So is because of it why you talk about traditional facts of Sweden like vikings stories?
Well it seems it is not important enough actually. We
have alot of old traditions here, but alot of people
don't know about the backgroung or history to them.
And we think knowing your history is important and
should not be forgotten.
Thank you very much for offering us this interview, we are really proud to speak with bands like you. See you very soon in Spain. Good luck!!!
Thank you very much! we hope to be in Spain very
shortly, and we can't wait the spanish people! heers!!
